Ecotherapy

Do you find that being outdoors in nature boosts your mental health? Do you enjoy walking and talking or find that exercise lifts your mood? Perhaps you have heard about the mental health benefits of spending time in nature and are curious to learn more and experience them for yourself?

At Elements Therapy, I create bespoke therapeutic experiences which harness the benefits of working with a trained psychotherapist as well as the healing power of our natural environment.

You do not need to have any particular outdoor experience or level of fitness. Just a willingness to embrace the elements and an open mind.

What is Ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy is a term used to describe any outdoor therapeutic practice ranging from a simple walk and talk in a local park, through to horticultural therapy or wilderness therapy.

This type of nature therapy can be ideal for those who prefer not to talk about their feelings as well as those who are more open.

Please take a look at my gallery and see if this is a type of therapy that calls to you.

My Approach

I offer an initial walk and talk session to begin our ecotherapy journey. This will take place either in the woodlands or along the coast of Lytham St Annes.

During this session we will look at your reasons for coming to therapy and your experiences, preferences and level of comfort with outdoor work. From there, we take a collaborative and dynamic approach to our sessions to ensure that they meet your needs, respect our environment and adapt to the weather.

Sessions may include collecting natural materials, looking for symbolism in nature, creating natural artwork, being playful and exploring your inner child, building shelters, making hot drinks outdoors, trying guided meditation, exploring somatic exercises or continuing with walk and talk sessions.
